Size DOES matter
So... going through security at MCI a couple of week ago and BOTH my bags get selected for a check. I had my very hazardous shampoo/conditioner, etc. all packed up per the 3-1-1 guidelines from the TSA. What messed the screener up was that instead of just having them in the quart bag, I had them in a gallon bag with all my other non-liquid items (toothbrush, razor, etc.). So, the screener was going to require me to leave all my liquids at screening even though they were small travel sizes and in a clear plastic bag.
I said "So, it's the SIZE of the bag that is the security risk?" I was pretty hot. Happily, a savvy traveler behind me had an extra pre-approved quart bag and gave it to me. Of course, my shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste fit nicely into this bag and I was on my way. This helped me avoid a nasty incident on my way to vacation... I'm SO glad this is what our $$$ goes for! Idiots. |
Good ‘ol MCI.
A terminal designed without screening in mind. |
When was this? Because the revised rules state that a screener can allow a gallon sized bag if the contents would fit into a quart sized bag... Yeah, it's absurd, but...

Thanks. |
I doubt it's going to be posted, it's up to the screener whether or not you can take a larger size bag...
