I complimented a TSA supervisor
I went through SFO yesterday. I've found the TSA folks there generally quite pleasant, and yesterday was no exception. Smiling TSOs, politely assisting people through the process with humor and patience. On my way out, I stopped by a supervisor, and told him I appreciated the pleasant and efficient way his people discharged their responsibilities. The poor guy looked almost stunned -- I suspect he takes a lot of grief. He gave me a sincere thank you, and I felt good for probably having made his day.
I don't like the whole kabuki security aspect of TSA, but I do think the folks at SFO (at least at the UA elite line) really try hard to keep things as nice, unobtrusive and efficient as possible. |

Glad you had a good experience and I have to say that i commend you for taking the time to thank the Supervisor. We all complain about the problems which is fine, but when they do a good job they should be thanked. Maybe that will start to make them realize that certain things work and certain things don't work. Wishfull thinking on my part, i know. |
Isn't SFO's screening privately operated by Covenant Aviation?

If I have time when traveling and have a "good" TSA encounter, I try to compliment them in writing, and try to make sure it goes to the local staff and not the bit bucket that all the TSA.gov compliments/compliants go into. I obviously file complaints every time I encounter a problem.
What I do find sad is that I find myself complimenting people simply doing their jobs, as it seems such a contrast to the "norm" for me of consistent inconsistency and ill demeanors by the TSA staff I have to deal with. I do always point out that the way I was treated and the way the screening proceeded at airport xxx at time yyy etc. should serve as a model to the entire system of how things should work. |
