TSA Security Questions

I know those of you who requent here regularly have probably seen a million of these posts, but please...bear with me.

My questions are as follows:

1. Can I bring prescription medication (only solid pills) and an inhaler? All of the medication (including the inhaler) will be in its original prescription packaging, with all pharmacy prescription information written on the label.

2. When the TSA say they must "screen" the medication, what do they mean exactly? Do they mean they must open my carry-on and look at the medication, or just run it through the x-ray machine?

3. Am I allowed to pack something edible, such as chocolates, in my carry-on, traveling from Vancouver (YVR) to Houston (IAH)? Would customs even allow it (regardless of airport security)?

4. How would I get something such as a bottle of wine to my destination? I obviously can't bring it aboard the flight, and I'd hate to pack it in checked luggage, as it might crack or break. Would security allow a bottle of wine, or would that be something I'd have to purchase at the airport (in which case, it'd probably be better off if I don't, since I'd want a good wine anyway...)

Answering these questions would be a lot of help! Thanks ahead of time. :)

1. Prescription meds and inhalers are fine. Don't worry about it.

2. By "screening," x-ray would be the minimum that would happen. If additional screening is necessary, they'll let you know.

3. I don't know of any issues with edibles...as long as it isn't jello or pudding.

4. Package the wine well and check it, or have it shipped via FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.

Hope this helps...
