Conductor criticises air security

And Russian musicians returning from London after the Bolshoi Theatre's season in the capital had to travel overland on the Eurostar via Paris to fly home....

I think it's time to put an end to all this unfairness and stupidity that was introduced by some half-witted oaf or oafs who couldn't secure a paper sack.

I'm glad they took their business else where or had to canceled trips.

We need more intelligent people to speak up, and more people to hit the airlines bottom line with canceled trips so they help us move towards real, sane security.

I think it's about time a conductor critiqued someone else--conductors are always under the microscope: it's like having people following you around at your job commenting on what you do! ;) It's good the conductor is fighting back!

I wonder if he would have a problem with someone running it through a scanner. I worked in the air express business for years and we scanned parcels before placing them in a container - it's easy and fast to do and accurate as heck. If they run their instruments through a scanner, they should be able to take them on board.

Of course they should be allowed to take their instruments on board! Just like we should all be allowed to take a bottle of water on board. These items pose no real security threat - they never have and guess what? Water and musical instruments still pose no threat to aviation security. I don't understand why so many people, some of whom who have flown for years, suddenly think that these policies make sense. :mad:

I can't figure it out either.

Those of you who rant off to one direction or the other makes fools out of yourselves. The reality is American society does have a terrorist threat. However going off the deep end by calling people fascists or terrorist lovers does no one any good. We need to work together to come to realistic and meaningful solutions to the terrorist threat posed by those against democracy and open societies.

The TSA does not listen to the traveling public. They also have zero accountability. By definition, its leaders are indeed fascists/terrorist lovers. They have no desire to "work with" the traveling public. It's just one stupid edict after another.
