Can or no Can?

I recall during the first days of the new security measures reading that NO CANS will be given to passengers by FA's. Is this the case? If so, are all airlines supplying larger plastic cups for beer and mixers for mixed drinks? Or was this another false report?

The FAs on SW were more than happy to give me full cans of soda and water.

Other airlines may vary.

False report - although some airlines are stingy about giving out full cans, but for economic reasons, not security. CO will give you the can, while DL prefers not to but will if asked (their cups are huge), and US will look at you like a freeloader if you dare ask for the can.

inconsistent...

On AA this week one flight gave us cans but the other didn't (soft drinks
and juice; don't know about beer).

BUT, they limited the amount of water on one of the flights...which of course,
is now worse than it would have been pre-8/10 since we can't compensate
from home.

I think this is economic as someone mentioned....

It's pretty ridiculous to refuse you a can for economic reasons, since they cost about a quarter each. I suppose a lot more cost is incurred to transport it, though.
