In fact, it's quite safe, as long as you are aware of the rules and ways to drive on it.

The problem in the US is that no one is taught simple things like the left is for passing. People don't use signal lights appropriately. etc.

To get back on topic...
To calculate this somewhat right we'd have to look at miles traveled as our independent variable. The dependent variable would be # of accidents flying and # of accidents driving.

I did a lot of science fair. ;)

Speed in the US leads to more accidents. Drivers in Germany aren't the same as drivers over here. In fact, IMHO, the driving skills in the US are far worse than Germany and other parts of Europe. Many German drivers are used to driving at high speeds; few drivers in the US are.

If all men are castrated, the population will begin declining precipitously until all humans eventually disappear. Maybe we could all contribute to sperm banks before getting castrated. :)

You'd have the future of the species in your hand. :D

All of those automobile fatalities occur in thousands of separate and unrelated accidents. If this attack had succeeded the single event could have killed several thousand people.

The difference is in the possibility/probability of preventing a single incident/attack versus preventing thousands of unrelated events.

Take away the tools to do damage, whether it's castration to prevent rapes, or take away all carryons on the plane (nevermind that cargo is still not fully screened).

You can get refreshments after you've boarded the plane, you realize...

And no, the permanent removal of testicles is a whee bit more inconveniant that being denied your ipod during the flight (which is only in affect in the UK).
