Oh please. There's a huge difference between saying that the only hope to have a right recognized is to keep bringing hopeless cases thinking someday you might win -- which is Doppy's point -- and the silly rantings of some posters here insisting that such a constitutional right already exists. All I've done is agree that the only hope for those who feel strongly about this issue is to continue being Don Quixotes and wasting their money on lawsuits.

One point in this post is correct, however -- this game is not as fun as it used to be. Bye Bye.

Some may keep hoping "that the only hope for those who feel strongly about this issue is to continue being Don Quixotes and wasting their money on lawsuits" in order to maintain the so-called "security" measures that strike their fancy -- measures best described as waste -- but that hope doesn't change the fact that the pendulum is not fully swinging the way of (sham) security apologists anymore. If the pro-freedom lawsuits help -- and some may (even if many do not) -- then I say all the more power to the freedom-loving; if voting out hardwing government-can-do-little/no-wrong politicians, then I say all the more power to the freedom-loving there too. Others are, of course, free to freedom-bash, especially as they will continue to love the feeling of safety -- real or not -- even if (or especially if) it erodes on the rights of others more, or especially if it provides opportunity for advancement of racism/tribalism in action.

At CDG yesterday, I observed the following while a colleague was passing through security and selected for increasingly typical racism by CDG security, a security man with nothing better to do. The security man speaks to the person in French. My colleague says, "no, no French, but you clearly speak some English", all in an American accent. The security man then asks him "speak Arabic?". The response: "I'm not Arab; I'm American and my family is NOT from the Middle East." This is the idiocy that is CDG security. Then again, it's often amusing at CDG to enter into France/Schengen without the passport even being opened or the landing card even validated/examined.

I flew CDG-LHR resently and ICTS was checking boarding passes and passports at the entrance to the departure lounge ICTS put a sticker on the BP to indicate that they have checked the passport and the airline checked the passport again a few feet away righ in view of the ICTS people. ICTS asked a asian couple alot of question and thuroughly checked thier passports. The flight was not boarding yet. After ICTS was finished, the couple saw the gate door closed and thaught they were late for the plane, so they walked tro the door and opened it causing a alarm to go off that sounds like an old fashioned fire engine siren that winds up and stays at the same pitch.
