Article is only the tip of the iceberg. I wish it addressed:

- Inconsistent and/or arbitrary application of SOP.
- Management ineptitude, leading to the low morale and high attrition.
- Lack of accountability throughout the agency.

For starters.

I'm impressed the guy had the balls to sign his name to it.

I'm sure he'll be subject to constant SSSS, if he isn't placed on the no fly list.

Kudos to him for writing about his experiences in a public forum.

LessO2: He could never have written about all of those things. The Washington Post is only so big ...even for the Sunday edition. :D

Super

How long will it be before we hear from DHS/TSA that the author has been a malcontent and trouble maker from the time he started working for the TSA?

Thank you, sir, for stepping forward and having the courage to tell it from the pespective of an insider.

(As an aside, I noted in a news segment last week thatEmily Hughes, the American figure skater, was allowed to take her skates on board her flight to Italy whereas many times in the past she had been required to check her skates when flying to a competition.)

"Visitors to Dulles see posters at the checkpoints with the word "WARNING" in large red letters, followed by the information that "passengers are advised that the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security has determined that Bandara Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, and Port au Prince International Airport, Haiti, do not maintain and administer effective aviation security measures." That's good to know, but what about Washington Dulles International Airport?"

Security at any US airport is a joke. What a well-written article!

Interesting. I wonder if it is a new TSA policy to allow this, or if it was a one-time slip-up? Would be interesting to know since we are going to a Nationals competition tomorrow.
