I read the statement in the article and would like to get this clarified. I would go ballistic if this actually meant the government was forcing airlines to feed TSA staff. I hope he meant something completely different by that statement. In addition, this total includes nearly $400 million that it costs us to provide services, such as screening catering supplies and materials, that we continue to provide, and for which we have yet to be reimbursed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). At the time of this quote, the airlines had spend nearly $400 million to screen the catering items (carts, food, ice, sodas, etc), the cost of which the airlines must have thought would be reimbursed by the TSA. It has nothing to do with providing gloves or bins or coffee or donuts. The airlines were already paying the insane $2.50/segment tax plus their annual screening payment to the TSA yet were still paying to screen these onboard items. Realistic for TSA to pay for it? Dunno. |
I know! And the sooner we can figure out who pays for the TSA, the sooner we'll...
