any way to lessen security touching all my stuff?
the last time i flew, pbi-jfk-tlv, all my cereal boxes, candy boxes, bandaids, etc were opened. the bags and boxes cut. thinking about eating the cereal and such is revolting. anyway to lessen the chance of it happening next time? anything to do to recoupe the damaged goods?

Your cereal is not opened? Why would it be revolting if your items have not been opened from their seal?
Do you pack all your items into one of those large suitcases with the straps? Yea... lots of organic material... machine goes haywire. My advice to you is: Rude but true... A)Deal with it. B)Pack less items. C)Keep electronics on one side of your luggage, away from CANDY and CHOCOLATE. D)Carry on what you can in regards to thick candy, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. You may be searched at checkpoint, but it would be less revolting to you if they search it in front of you. Recoupe damaged goods? In what way were they damaged? Bandaids were unpealed and used? Someone poured milk in your cereal? Someone took a bite out of your candy? Please explain further. |

Write your representatives and ask them to remove this un-American disease from our airports.

MIKEON,
Not talking about serious electronigs, but small items, CD players and the such... |
As Lumpy would say, do not fly.

i would love not to fly home, but i live in israel, and walking or taxi would be a major drag.
tsa person, the boxes are opened. no, i don't think anyone is having a bowl of my wheaties without asking, but i don't like to think that the knife that opened my stuff just opened someone else's stuff, that the gloved hand just stifled a yawn, etc. i mean, really, if i brought home a box of cereal from the grocery store and saw the inner lining had been cut, wouldn't i definately return it to the store for a refund? |
Three simple letters
UPS If you don't want TSA looking or touching something in your bags, don't take it with you to the airport. |

What about the guy who made your wheeties and happend to sneeze on the conveyor belt carrying them to the bag? Knife? it will be scissors at most, and if it is cereal, it was probably opened by hand. If I bought cereal and the outside of the box was ripped but there was still air and cereal in the inner bag, why would I worry? |
ok, so are you saying when you fly and find your wheaties' inner bag open, and loose wheaties in your suitcase, that you would still eat it? or eat it with nary a worry?
let's face it, germs get into our food, and some of my friends eat stuff after it has fallen on the floor. but that isn't the point. the question is, can i in some way reduce the chances of the cereal boxes, including the inner bag, getting opened? |
If you pack a lot of dense items such as what I noted earlier, not much you can do except pack lighter and try to carry what you can through checkpoint.

Bart,
The TSA has been very lax lately about putting the notification card in luggage. |
I can't figure out why any TSA screener would need to open the box unless there was something other than cereal inside the box. If it was TSA, then like Bart said, you have a very valid reason to file a complaint.
