TSA actually relocked my bag

I bought a suitcase with built-in allegedly TSA-approved locks. Like everybody else, I had bought TSA padlocks in the past, only to have them mangled or disappeared. This particular type of lock requires two separate zipper pulls to be neatly fastened to the lock mechanism. I figured they wouldn't dare smash a permanently-installed TSA lock, but I never figured they would actually -correctly relock- the bag. To my surprise, they did! This happened at LAX.

LAX is the only airport where they examine your bags behind a screen and you have to wait till its cleared .......they also were the only airport to come out and ask if I had a lock or a cable tie to reseal the bag they had inspected

Lax again...They accepted my locked samsonite but I had left the combination lock "open". After inspection I asked TSA guy to just spin the combination tumblers to close it...no problems. Much less hassle than I had been led to expect espcially after hearing that luggage must be unlocked.

That was probably a new TSA employee don't worry the chances of that happening again are small

In FLL you are allowed to be present when your bags are checked. If they don't need to be opened your name is called to let you know you can proceed to your flight. If they do need to be opened they will let you be present.

In SAV, the DL check in woman pasted my combination lock number onto my bag and the TSA removed it after the bag was checked.

I've never had to wait at LAX while my luggage was screened. And I've flown from there dozens of times in the last two years.

That "re-locking" you experienced...

...was the TSA screener worn-out and tired-looking, as if from a long shift? And did he mumble anything about: "There y'are, sir. Are those handcuffs too tight?" or anything?

Maybe he was confusing you with someone he thought might have refused secondary.

Mistakes happen.
