Looking for some shoes

I know the topic has been addressed before, but things change, maybe there are better options. I'm looking for some shoes that have a high rate of success through non-carnival airports. I like athletic shoes with good padding, but since they tend to go greater than 1" they are a problem. I just want some good presentable, black shoes that offer minimal trouble. Anyone know of any?

First thing I'd start with is not trusting the "airport friendly" signs. :)

Seriously though ... how much are you looking to spend? Are you thinking more along the "Payless" budget, or something like the $40-60 range?

The best airport shoes

Best shoes for security are made by ECCO. Not cheap, but also exceptionally comfortable walking shoes, and presentable for both business casual and business. I have a 100% success rate with them. Unfortunately, due to shoe carnival issue, I still am asked to take them off occassionally, but they have never triggered the screening.
