Quick help needed about lighters

Am flying back out to the US leaving home in 6 hours. What is the latest news on the lighters front ??
I have a cheap disposable non-refillable - can I check it / carry-on / jacket pocket to come out through security ...... or just give up smoking !!!

Also have a book of matches (the free ones from bars) ... same question.

Thanks - oh returning to the UK on 27th March so hopefully rules will apply both ways ???

Based on what I've read in this forum, no changes on matches/lighters until April. I don't think you're supposed to have lighters in your checked luggage, however.

when I checked in a couple of times ago I had 3 in my purse (was asked at check-in) so they suggested I put 2 of them in my suitcase - watched me do it then waved goodbye to my case - no problems .... so I give up !
