Amusing statement at TSA website

"Good things people have said about the TSA"

There's no content for November, nor October. I wonder why they don't post all the "I was groped" articles? It seems that's what people are really saying about the TSA: I was groped.

How pathetic.

I checked some prior months and it looks like someone at the TSA has clipped every comment by a sheople to the media proclaiming that "I don't mind anything the TSA does if it makes us safer when we fly."

Even mindless letters to the editor like this one:

…Many of us frequent air travelers feel a great deal safer with TSA on the job…Does this inconvenience us law-abiding travelers…? Of course. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Hats off to the TSA and let them confiscate anything they want if they believe it's potentially hazardous…Gene O'Mara, Riverside, Calif., writing to the Juneau (Alaska) Empire. 4/18/04.

Does Stone know (or care) how stupid this publicly-accessible clipping service makes his agency look? If my employer did this, I'd be ashamed.

Not really

I was told twice in the last two days that we are the most friendly and best at DEN. I did have a guy object to the pat down today though (thats a first.)

Well, I hope that you shipped him off to Guantanamo! Objecting to the pat-down seems mighty suspicious to me. What do you suppose he had to hide? Didn't he realize that you're just doing it to keep him safe?

Well that's just wonderful. The most friendly and best at a notorious airport. The best and most friendly at harassing innocent people? You must be very proud.

It's not uncommon for organizations, including commercial companies and govbernment agencies, to post testimonials that reflect the organization in a positive light. This is not something unique to TSA.

I agree it does seem rather silly, however, especially to one who has had (or read about) more negative experiences involving the entity than positive ones.

I explained the whole process to him while I was wanding him and when I told him about the pat down, he said that I couldnt do that for no reason. I told him to sit down and he looked at me like he had won. I then told him that he probably was going to be told that he couldnt get on the airplane because he refused to complete the screening process. He then consented. He went on his merry way. I dont think that his destination was Cuba though. ;)

Funny. Did you get a rush when you told him he might not be able to fly since he was such a threat to security by objecting to KGB/Gestapo-like actions?

Probably not as much as you did by thinking you were so cool making up this snide remark. :D

I wonder how many "soldiers" throughout history rationalized their actions as "only following our orders." Does that mke it any less wrong??? I can tell you from traveling to the ex-USSR many times, TSA actions are worse.

Your agency shouldn't be touching or "patting" anyone. Period.
