Pool Cue?

Is it OK to bring a pool cue on board, packed in a roll-aboard? I am flying BOS-SFO-NRT-SIN on UA.

(I did a search but did not find any reference to pool cues. It is a gift for a friend. I can check the bag but prefer not to.)

edit: I should have checked the TSA website first, sorry. A pool cue is ok in checked baggage but not as carry-on. :( In it goes with the cricket bat and lax stick. )

Aye or kubatons or other "bludgining" (is that spelled right?) instruments. Even worse (imagne the irony here..yes I know it is stereotypic) When I connect thru NRT, they take away and make me check (even without leaving secure area) my camera tripod. Thought I was just being unlucky the 1st time, but it happened a 2nd time. I check it now. Seems they have "length" requirements on how long one can be for NRT, even if it passes "carryon requirements" their connecting security staff measures it compressed and says it is too big.

Strange that I was able to carry on a blueprint drawing tube through NRT without any trouble, I doubt that a camera tripod would be any bigger than the tube! Maybe you should put the tripod in a tube and pretend that it's a bunch of blueprints!

Pool Cue : No

Bowling Ball : Yes

Ahh...the TSA's infinite wisdom strikes again !!

Pool cue+chains+(3-6) bowling balls (add a power drill and some bolts) and you got 1 bad "cat-o-nine tails"

I am sure (sarcasm) that they will allow a few of the parts, but are unwilling to let you "compatmentalize" such a mideval weapon of terror.

Kind of like a laptop...has the timer, the power source, the wires, and you can bring it...its the other 2 pieces of the IED that you can't bring...clearly the pool cue is the "key" piece here.

(vote fastair for czar of the TSA in 2005)
