Just some info.
This passenger has no record of a flight during the month of Nov/03, Dec/03 of Jan/04. US Airways at La Guardia does not seem to recall such an incident. And our young writer seems to have a habit of writing erroneous editorials in a number of local and area papers. |
LOL, so it really is a fish story!!!
The fish in the bag was this big http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...m/thumbsup.gif __________________________________________________ __________________ http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...m/thumbsup.gif [This message has been edited by TSAMGR (edited Jan 11, 2004).] |

I can only provide a little background info. I work very closely with the airlines as well as the TSA. I can say both have their faults. They also have many strong points as well. However when all entities state the same thing then it is not hard to put 2+2 together. Several area papers have listed her E-Mail address as a regular source of editorials. This young lady seems to like to call attention to what she deems as social injustices. These papers while widely distributed have been considered to be questionable to say the least. I applaud an open mind and encourage people to speek out, however take a look at the story and you will clearly see that there is an agenda. The inconsistancies in the airport layout(walked by the checkpoint after we went to another checkpoint). The aircarrier would have certainly known to call a screening manager or someone higher( trust me they do it all the time). Anyway I get long winded. This info has been derived from all of the sources that are named in the article. Thank you for holding an open mind, this is something that is often lacking in many forums.

To bring the topic back to fish..
I am still not sure if I should take Charles (my beautiful Betta Splendens..and if you talk mean about him he will jump out his aquarium and bite you! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif ) home when I fly back in summer. I do know I cannot bring him back with me, but a friend would take him (if he lives long enough, he is already pretty old). Anyway. I asked in December Munichs Customs if I am allowed to import him, and yes, after 30 minutes checking with all appropiate authorities I am. I then called yesterday the TSA at Bismarck (where I will board and go thru security). The supervisor there was highly amused and said he would not see why I should not bring a fish, I can carry him thru the Metal detector and they will not x-ray him. I then called United, gotten forwarded a few times and then put on hold for 15 minutes, and yes, I can bring my Charles. Has to be in travelling container that fits under the seat and he will count as my personal item. Most of the flight is Lufthansa C-class, but its an United award ticket, plus Lufthansa transported for my family way stranger things than fish. He will probably stay here, as its not fair to make poor him travel so far (he is a Wal-Mart purchase, so he already had a terrible hard life), but I will miss him (and yes, he swims towards me when I come into the room and rests on my side when I am working at the table, plus he only eats when I handfeed him every crumb) |
