5 Screeners per lane
1 lead per 2 lanes
1 supervisor per 2 lanes

1 lead per 4 ETDs
1 supervisor per 4 ETDs

1 screening manager per checkpoint

3 french hens...

That would explain why there are 7 TSA agents running the single-lane security checkpoint at CHS.

Which, by the way, I strongly suggest NOT visiting by commercial aircraft unless you want every bag opened and screened by hand (they don't have CTX machines there, which is pathetic for such a touristy airport).

How many screeners does it take to change a light bulb in the security check point...??

None, we just call the airport maintence to replace them.

TSAMGR Jan 30, 2004 5:22 pm

The selectee lane is suppose to have 9 screeners on it.

We can't, not in SOP. We just have to sit there in the dark.

Pretty much describes the screening force @ RDU. Just like mushrooms.

At GSO here is our command
FSD
4 AFSD'S
4 SM'S
10 SUPERVISORS
25 or so LEADS
and finally
around 100 screeners
not to mention there are also
4 inspectors
2 receptionist
training coordinator
2 HR people
1 IT person
2 Customer service people (not sure of their job details though)

....and a partridge in a pear tree

If you want a shift breakdown
You have AM/PM baggage AM 0400 to 1230, PM 1130 to 2000
AM/PM checkpoint AM 0430 to 1300, PM 1200 to 2030

On baggage, each shift has 3 supervisors for approx. 25 screeners.
There are 17 baggage ETD machines, there are 4 machines in front of the US air counter, 4 in front of Delta/United, 3 in front of American, 1 in front of Northwest, 3 in front of Airtran/Continental, and 1 curbside station at each major entrance into the terminal. any 4 days of the week all 3 supervisors are on duty, the rest at least 1 if not 2 are off. and there are at least 6 leads on duty every day. It averages 1 lead for every 3 to 4 screeners.

On the checkpoint, it is almost exactly the same. There are 2 CP's. One south and one north. On the south CP there are 4 lanes, 1 being a selectee lane. Usually there are only 3 lanes running. And one lane always being a selectee lane. There is 1 supervisor per checkpoint. There is 1 lead on each lane. And generally 5 to 6 screeners per lane. And now they are bringing in around 60 part timers total over the next couple of months. Not to mention that most of these leads aren't being paid, but now "DC" has authorized 28 lead positions for our airport, and since 10 were hired on...that's 18 that will start getting paid once appointed to the position. So now we are top and bottom heavy. We could run the airport without the AFSD's...maybe 1 to act in the FSD's absence. Only 2 inspectors, 1 AM , 1 PM....1 receptionist....2 screening managers, 4 supervisors, 6 or 7 leads....and the 150 screeners total. And we could probably run with less than that....but with that number it should run more than smoothly.

You forggot the Scheduling Operations Officer.

Fenito Jan 31, 2004 4:06 pm

No......that position has been terminated and replaced with an AFSD position.

TSAMGR Jan 31, 2004 4:43 pm

OK, most places have a SOO. Was the SOO promoted to AFSD?

Fenito Jan 31, 2004 5:50 pm

How'd u guess? That would be a good day wouldn't it. Come in to the office. Umm..we're sorry but we have to eliminate your position. But we are promoting you to this nice 100K job as an AFSD....
