"Hijack security screening"
 

I took a departing flight from NRT the other day, and noticed that the recorded announcement near the security checkpoint asked passengers to cooperate with the "hijack security check." Actually, I don't know if that was the exact term used, but "hijack" was definately one of the terms used. For some reason, this stood out to me.

You'd never hear such a word used in a US airport's announcements, as great pains are taken to not bring up things that might unduly worry a passenger. In a related matter, I was in the SJC Admiral's club recently, and the TV at the bar was showing "The John Walsh Show." The bartender quickly decided that the channel needed to be changed, and clicked over to a news channel. The story of the moment was how several Air France flights had been cancelled over concerns that they might be hijacked and used as WMDs. The bartender quickly said "maybe I should pick another channel" and switched to something else.
