!!Urgent CAPPS II update !!

Please visit the following URL for important information regarding the re-incarnation of CAPPS II, as it is being deployed with the Galileo CRS (computer reservation system).

http://www.dontspyon.us/

Bookmark the above site; please pass it onto friends, family, co-workers, or anyone you know who travels that values not only their privacy, but their rights & civil liberties as outlined in the US Constitution.

The following is an excerpt from www.dontspyon.us in regards to the DHS, CAPPS II, and Galileo:

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">
To the Department of Homeland Security, you are no longer an American, you are a potential terrorist. Soon, anyone who books a flight through the Galileo Computerized Reservation System will have a nice fat file opened-up on them. In another test of a new Orwellian airline security program by the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration, Galileo will be facilitating background checks on anyone using their system.

Please visit the site for more information. I just discovered this site today; it appears this site was created by the individual who setup www.boycottdelta.org after Delta Air Lines agreed to participate in the privacy invading initial CAPPS II program.

The first victory against CAPPS II has been won -- now it's time to stop Cendant, the DHS, et al, from pushing this soviet style "program" onto us.

Best,

What victory?

CAPPS II and things like the Total Information Awareness project don't go away, they go underground. We remove the public funding for them and switch it to private funding.

You don't think it actually costs $60,000 for a hammer, do you?

You're correct - Orwellian things like this don't go away -- BUT, I consider it a victory that it was temporarily stopped when the funding was yanked; I see it as a victory that the setup between CAPPS II & DL is no more.

Now a different approach is being taken with a watered-down (but in many ways worse) CAPPS II. It won't go away easily, but every victory, regardless of how small, amounts to something. If the Cendant / CAPPS II project falls apart, I'm sure it will still be persued by our Orwellian administration -- but if it falls apart, that too would be a victory.

Now it's time to stop Cendant & CAPPS II, as DL & CAPPS II was previously stopped. Cendant, like DL, is a public corporation, and customers have choice. A good approach is to boycott Cendant and hit em' where it hurts, in the pocketbook. Cendant has to answer to their shareholders -- the shareholders will not be happy if a serious (and successful) effort is made in boycotting the company which results in reduced $$$s.

Best,
