A positive TSA experience

Flew out of PHL. ID was checked once at the entrance to the line. No shoe check. No random harassment. Both I and the screeners were polite, if not friendly to each other.

Left something in the AC; had someone watch my bags while I went back to retrieve it. ID checker noticed I was missing the stub on my BP and I explained why. No problems. Second time through - again no worries. Was asked about my shoes. I told them that they do not set off the alarm and that was that. No chemical test, no secondary harassment.

I really wish this experience was the rule, rather than the exception! You'd see about 50% fewer posts from me!

Spiff...my experience at SNA was similar to yours this morning. I did not take my shoes off and had no problems. In fact it appeared that the lady I spoke with had actually read the directive as she told me that they would not force anyone to take off shoes for liability reasons and that they are really only required to do that if the soles are over 1.5 inches thick.

Nice to have a positive experience. Now we'll see what ORD is like???

SNA has always, in my mind, been very good. Even at the height of the "shoes off" nonsence, they would let passengers through without hassle. No beep - no wand, seemes to be the policy there. I wish more places were like that!
