Advance Passenger Information System - Online Check-in Passport Info - China

Hey guys, I am planning to go to China to visit friends and family in the coming months. I am a HK-USA dual citizen and I am just wondering, are passport information done during online check-in usually sent to the country of your destination in advance?? Specifically China if that helps. Since China doesn't recognize dual citizenship, I am worried because of the information that was given to the airline might conflict with the ones that I show since the multi-trip itinerary (JFK-HKG-PVG) only lets me input one passport information at that time and that might make me look suspicious.

According to Wikipedia, China requires API (Advance Passenger Information) including nationality and passport details.

I suppose you're flying CX/KA. In that case the CX JFK check-in agents should be well versed in what to enter for China API. HK does not require API so it doesn't affect how you check in.

If you have a China visa in your US passport, simply use that at check in. If you are using the Mainland Travel Permit, bring the HKSAR passport along and the airline should be able to handle it.

Every time you check in you can present a different passport depending on the exact itinerary.
