Thumbs up medical device on plane?

I have no clue where to post this---I have to fly in several weeks and need to bring a demo piece of equipment that is too big to fit in my luggage, and i really dont want to check it (it is fragile), so what are my options??
I appreciate the advice--thank you. Im not sure it would fit in overhead, but probably could.
I will be flying american.

Size? Domestic flight? Have you brought it onto any flights before?

You might ask the equipment's manufacturer how best to transport it. Perhaps it should be shipped in advance.

Medical devices are normally exempt from carry-on luggage limits.
