The aviation security enhancements will include requiring that all personal electronic devices larger than a cell phone or smart phone be placed in checked baggage at 10 airports where flights are departing for the United States.
These enhancements apply to 10 specific airports. The affected overseas airports are: Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), Cairo International Airport (CAI), Ataturk International Airport (IST), King Abdul-Aziz International Airport (JED), King Khalid International Airport (RUH), Kuwait International Airport (KWI), Mohammed V Airport (CMN), Hamad International Airport (DOH), Dubai International Airport (DXB), and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
There is no impact on domestic flights in the United States or flights departing the United States. Electronic devices will continue to be allowed on all flights originating in the United States.

Emirates customers travelling to the US via Dubai will be able to utilise their laptops and tablet devices on the first part of their journeys, and also during transit in Dubai. They must then declare and hand over their laptops, tablets, and other banned electronic devices to security staff at the gate just before boarding their US-bound flight. The devices will be carefully packed into boxes, loaded into the aircraft hold, and returned to the customer at their US destination. There will not be any charge for this service.
Passengers on US-bound flights starting their journeys in Dubai are encouraged to pack their electronic devices into their check-in luggage in the first instance, to avoid delays.
Customers should be aware that there will be a detailed search of all hand baggage on non-stop flights to the US from Dubai. They should therefore declare their devices before the search, or ensure their electronic devices are packed into their check-in luggage in the first instance.

The problem is how to safeguard your valuable (both intrinsic and extrinsic) devices and ensure that the device and the data arrives at your destination safely and on time.
It seems that TK has done the best job. EK is a bit lesser so. Rumours are that QR has done it without a lot of fan-fare.
Can anyone please address the process of delivering electronics at the boarding gate in DOH and the process to retrieve the electronics at the US Destination? Preferrably LAX?
First hand experience would allow proper discussion of the problem.

More importantly, have their modified their terms of service/carriage wherein they now accept responsibility for your electronics if they are not returned to you, including, say, the sketchy American baggage handlers in Houston?

Canon image-stabilized 15x50 binoculars... will they be allowed if I simply remove the disposable batteries?
My 6.4-inch screen phone?(Lenovo) What are the chances that they insist that it's a tablet and not a phone?
Thanks!

Quick questions about two of the devices that I frequently carry:
Canon image-stabilized 15x50 binoculars... will they be allowed if I simply remove the disposable batteries?
My 6.4-inch screen phone?(Lenovo) What are the chances that they insist that it's a tablet and not a phone?
Thanks!

Your phone could be allowed or banned. It is up to the individuals doing the screening. If they decide it is a tablet, it is a tablet.
From the Evening Standard in UK: “The ban covers devices which are larger than a typical smartphone measuring 16cm x 9.3cm x 1.5cm, which will now have to go in the plane's hold.”
Interesting read here.... basically says nobody knows the real limits.

Possible safe solution for checking camera bodies?
It looks like I can fit my DSLR camera body in it rather than a bottle of wine or liquor. It will inflate so the body will be in an air cushion and if I put it in one of my opaque space cube bags it may help avoid theft as well.
However I am still conflicted as to whether or not I want to do this but wanted to toss the idea out to others. Still have a few days to make that decision.
Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Originating in CAI, but connecting before USA
Apolgoies if this was answered already - What if an itinerary originates from one of the "selected" airports, but connects elsewhere (Europe, not the U.K.), prior to Kennedy? Cheers in advance for reading!
