Hearing Aids and TSA Security

Simple question, do hearing aids typically alarm Walk Through Metal Detectors or Whole Body Imagers?

The hearing aid in question is a small behind the ear unit, probably less than 1/2 inch long x 1/4 inch wide with wire to ear speaker.

Thanks.

Some yes and some no for WTMD. The nude-o-scope is basically a xray type image. Metal doesn't cause an alarm. Those go by detecting abnormal shapes and comparing to a database. Absent other issues will go through the nude-o-scope easier then WTMD.

It shouldn't have any problems. You don't have any problems with your hearing aids. You will be just fine. Just leave it on.

Never had a problem!

Hello,

I have been wearing hearing aids of different types (behind the ear and in the ear) for over 30 years and have taken many many flights and never had any problems wearing them through security. They never made an alarm go on.

Enjoy your flights! :)

I wear them through security all the time (large in ear model) and never had an issue.

Thanks to all of you.

I wear hearing aids (behind the ear) for both ears and have never set off any alarms. There will not be any issues.
