Post full body scan patdown

I broke my ankle 4 months ago and had a plate and 7 screw to repair the fracture. I have had 3 surgeries from this fracture. The hardware was removed on Dec 16th, 2015. A few days ago I was at the Orlando Airport and went through the body scan. After leaving the scan the TSA Agent said "I need to pat down your left ankle". I have seen the pre and post surgery x-rays of my ankle. I know that there is nothing left inside of me. I have the hardware in my possession to prove it. What did they detect in my "left ankle" or was it just a coincidence?

Did TSA pat down bare skin?.

No. It was over my jeans.

Maybe you're favoring the foot because of all the surgery, and the agent thought it was because you were concealing something there? Just a wild guess...

I have never had any surgery whatsoever on my ankles, yet every time I pass through the scanners at AMS there's something at my ankles that needs patting down. These devices are simply broken and I have been opting out ever since.

Did it pick up the scars from the surgery?

Same deal for me except my neck area.
