Zimbabwe: knives in checked baggage

ok...I've googled for info but can't find anything specific or definitive to my question, so hoping someone here can help.
I will be traveling to Zim and then on to South Africa. A friend asked if I could bring Kunai throwing knives and also 2 lock blade knives for him as good quality ones are very expensive in SA. If I pack the knives (well wrapped and tucked safely between clothes in my checked bag), will I have issues taking them into Zimbabwe? Should my bag be searched, what are the chances of them being confiscated and me being thrown into jail?? Ha, this is Zim so that in itself is a loaded question!!!
I did find info on Air Zimbabwe website saying knives should be packed in checked bags but am not sure if this would specifically relate or pertain to international arrivals. My concern is mostly getting through customs in Zim as this is my first stop. Ultimately I need to get the knives to SA.
Any info or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Zimbabwe: knives in checked baggage

Are you connecting or stopping in Zimbabwe first? If you're in transit, I wouldn't think there would be a problem. If you are entering Zimbabwe, I would check with their embassy, either on-line or by phone.

Ultimately, I would be more concerned about the knives being stolen by.a TSA clerk.

I am stopping off in Zim for a few days before moving on to CPT. I'll do as suggested and contact Zim authorities. The smaller knives will be easier to hide in my luggage but the Kunai throwers are big in comparison so a little harder to "hide" from 'sticky fingers'.
I might check the hunting forum boards. I'm guessing people who go hunting or diving take their own gear? The things we do for friends. Can't remember when last I checked a bag. Always just take carry on...so much simpler.

I've seen people arrive in Zimbabwe with hunting firearms. Those iirc require a licence, so I'm not sure that's relevant. But I do think this might be:

IATA - Zimbabwe Customs, Currency & Airport Tax regulations details
http://www.iatatravelcentre.com/ZW-Z...airport-tax-re...
Zimbabwe Customs, Currency & Airport Tax regulations details ... drugs; honey; indecent or obscene literature; toy firearms; flick and lockable blade knives.

See: http://www.zimra.co.zw/index.php?opt...d=22&Itemid=27

From that, the throwers are OK; the lock blades not.

Super! Thanks for the info and links. Guess the lock blades will be staying behind.
