Windshield wiper blades in carry-on?
Has anyone taken windshield wiper blades in a carry-on bag? Guesses about how they'd be treated? They're not on the "prohibited item" list, but long pointy objects tend to worry the TSA.

An update, in case anyone has the same question in the future: no problems at all carrying the wiper blades through security.

Good data point. as a slight tangent, albeit from about 5 years ago, I got grief at ABQ taking American style license plates through in my hand baggage but was eventually let through also so I presume they are still ok.
As with all TSA interactions quite humourous. They ran the bag two times, then asked if it was mine and opened it, holding up the easily found offending tags. Guy said they could be "used as weapons" (as could anything from some training I've received in defence but I digress) and wanted to know why I had them. My first answer was too vague for him but the second more vague answer made them apparently not "be a weapon" and I was allowed to pass into the Sunport. So in theory we could all take a car somewhere, piece-by-piece, without checking a bag :D |
