Yes, some other airports are getting it too.

As I noted earlier: JFK.

Nice find, and as it notes:

Houston-IAH
Dallas-Fort Worth DFW
Miami-MIA
and Orlando-MCO
should be getting them operational by year's end or sooner.

And this quite clearly indicated that these machines are paid for in part or entirely by the airline(s) and/or airport(s) and not by CBP.

We still have a long way to go until passengers in the main get processed consistently without such huge numbers stuck waiting for 60+ minutes to get admitted into the country.

I have had enough 60 minute waits at LHR in the past 15 months that I basically do whatever I can to avoid meetings in the UK and get them moved elsewhere. If I were a visitor to the US, I would take the same approach.

Will this really save me time if I am making a declaration? Sounds like I'd still need to speak to a customs agent so they can verify I'm under the duty free limit.

At ORD it definitely has saved me time even as I frequently have some kind of edible items to declare.

I guess I'm a little confused... if anything I would think it would slow things down, since instead of filling out the form on the plane I'm doing it after de-boarding.

The time standing in line to get to a CBP employee to examine your declaration form eats up a lot more time than just about anything else during peak traffic or shoulder periods.

What's with the Xs??

Came back to ORD a few days ago, went through the APC as usual - so happy since they've started using them, that's until today. Now, all of a sudden, there's a big X across my entry receipt. Didn't even realized that until I was directed to the line with everyone else who has an X marked across their receipt --> that is not the line with those two guys standing at the podium and who just whisk you through without the usual scanning of passports at a regular window.

People in the 'X' line went through the regular CBP entrance procedure, just like the pre-APC days. As I was standing in the line for a good 20 minutes, I looked around and tried to figure out who gets "targeted." Lots of grandpas/grandmas in my line, even disable people (actually I think all disable people that came through during the time that I was in line got directed to the 'X' lane, all with receipts with an 'X')...so I looked at everyone who went through the same machine that I had gone through. Sure enough, the people who came after me on that machine all came to my 'X' line. (not saying that this is how they do their targeting, it's just an observation on my part)

What's with this??? Totally defeats the purpose of having these machines! What's worse, there are usually two to three windows pre-APC days, now, there's only ONE CPB officer & window serving this 'X' line, so you can imagine.... I usually stand in line to wait for my luggage to come out, and this time, my luggage was waiting for me to go pick it up on the carousel.

Is the government really so paranoid, even of people returning home ?? I mean, what are we going to do? We're just coming home!!
