If there are a dozen or more flight crew members lined up at one-stop at ORD and they aren't being moved very quickly, even APC may work out faster than that during the mid-afternoons during the early part of the working weekdays.

I've run into waits at SFO and IAD before (thankfully, we're talking a minute or so for a kiosk to open up--not 30+ minutes in line).

APC is now accepting Canadian passport holders at ORD now.

You don't have to stand in line to have a CBP agent look at your GE receipt.

And they are expanding it to ESTA at ORD so there will be a pretty significant line for the kiosks and for the CBP agent as wee I suspect.

The new APC scanning kiosks at ORD (not GE).

Silver Fox Oct 2, 2013 11:52 am

So at the APC kiosk if you have an ESTA you just need to scan the passport and you are in ?

Starting early next year (Q1/2014).

See post 84 in this thread ...

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chica...afternoon.html

It includes some documentation about it.

OK, but unless I am missing the blindingly obvious I do not see anything about ESTA in this: http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en...yatchicag.html

Just for Canadians.

I just went off of the statement.

The adding of Canadians into the APC lines was ready about 1 month ago. CBP needed to work out a few kinks but now that they have.

Next goal, ESTA travelers by late 1st quarter 2014. The current 32 machines though would probably not be enough once this is approved.

ords works at ORD so I assume what he says about the ESTA change to be factual/reliable.

Silver Fox Oct 2, 2013 4:58 pm

Didn't know that he/she did. Interesting.

I do...Yes, ESTA is the next upgrade to the APC kiosks.

The machines themselves will need to be upgraded but this has been planned for. So it's not a matter of if, but when this all takes place*.

*With the CF taking place in DC, this might be delayed. However, the airlines will push for sooner than later.

Many thanks. Do you know if it is something that will be rolled out to other airports too ?
