The Most Under Utilized TSA Pre-Check
PIT
I've been through the Pre-Check line at PIT on 15 different occasions since it opened in October 2012. I've been the only person in line each time. |
Well, it is more important how many people are waiting in the other lines.. ;)
|
It is quite unused - I breezed through last Sunday, never seeing anyone in line from the top of the escalator until I was on the train. I don't recall ever having a wait, and only a person or two ahead or behind me.
Having said that, my returns from LGA and DFW were equally empty. In fact, the only place I ever remember not walking directly to the front was at LAS, and that was behind one couple that was just wrapping up. Don't spread the word - you'll ruin it. (the PIT normal and preferred lines are always packed - at least when I'm there) |

It was 20 minutes for me to clear precheck at IAD a couple of weeks ago. Somewhere between 40 and 60 people in line. LAX was very quick, though.

Washington's Dullest Airport
I have gone PRE twice at IAD in the last three weeks. Both times on a Saturday around 10:00 a.m., and I was the only customer each time. I was surprised.
|
At LAX (T6), I was told that I was the only person to use the checkpoint in four hours. Perhaps it was because I had and endless battle with the "Maroon Coat" that I did have access to PreCheck. I think he was under the impression that it was an employee line.
I joked with the TSA staff and asked if they wanted me to go through a few times with different outfits. They said, "Only if you bring doughnuts." Fair enough. |
The Most Under Utilized TSA Pre-Check
LAX T6, never more than 3 people in line there in my experience.
|
I've been the only person at LAX T6 every time except once. That time there was one guy in front of me and he wound up getting selected for a pat down.
BOS A is on the empty side too. I've never had more than one person in front of me there. I wish they had it at C. |

It's so quiet either because passengers are unaware that they can use Pre-Check, AirServ employees are wrongly turning away eligible pax, or pax just don't know where to find Pre-Check. Over the next several months, I predict Pre-Check will grow.
Try going through the line in DEN, ORD, SFO, LGA, etc. Have seen twenty people going through Pre-Check in DEN at one time. |

There's PreCheck at LAX T6? I've gone through plenty of times at T5 and T7, but I've never seen signs for it at T6?

At more than a few airports not all checkpoints support Pre-Check. At DFW it is hidden away in a corner and is not obvious. You have to ask where it is.
|
DCA - no line (no people) in either B or C pier each time I've used it.
