Any recent security experiences at MEX?

I'm going to Mexico City in a couple of weeks.

Safety issues aside, what is the airpot security situation like at Mexico City / Benito Juarez Airport? I'm curious in part because of the police officer shooting at the airport.

Is it questioning, bag inspection, re-questioning, random searches, everyone gets searched?

I know that they don't allow liquids purchased in the terminal to be brought on board, but that's the extent of my knowledge.

I'm accustomed to Argentina and Brazil, but I didn't know what it's like for Mexico City.

Thanks for letting me know.

It's Mexico. It will be a useless mess, of course. Expect too many people shouting too many contradictory things in what should be considered pidgin Spanish. Just follow the signs from the plane to Immigration and then Customs and then escape. Don't forget to push the red button to "select" your screening. They love their big red button. None of them know how to do their jobs. None. Of. Them.

It does make MIA almost look good though.
