I'm wondering about this as well. And what happens if someone going to the gates waits to get on the tram on the exit side (where you can get first on the forward one, while everyone else is waiting for the doors to open on the other side :D). Would that person now be subjected to go back through security after they had been tainted by the people walking by getting off the tram?

I believe that this is somewhat unique to MCO. When you get off the train travelling from the gates, there is no way to get back to the middle section between the trains which return to the gates. They have these 'temporary' signs and tapes set up to funnel one out to the exit airside, and then to get back to the middle section between trains one has to go through security again.

I hope that I explained that clearly - the only word to describe it which comes to mind is 'dämlich'. Maybe FS or someone else familiar with MCO can explain it better than I.

Edited to add: one of the first English translations which Google provided for 'dämlich' is 'Dopey' which I believe is rather apt in this case!

I remember when you get off the train, you're in same general area that recently screened pax go through. I once got on the wrong train, so I just stepped off, walked to the other train, and was on my way to the RCC, no re-screening required.

When exiting, there is also the long, glass hallway that you walk down to get into the lobby of the airport. If you get too far down there, they won't let you return.

The last time I flew in on UA I was on the left exit on your drawing and don't think there was a way to cross back but I could have been mistaken especially as I try and avoid MCO now. Or if one takes the exit for A or B it may differ.

I do recall once last year a woman did try and get back in the train and a TSO yelled at her and ran over to stop her from doing so.

I seem to recall from other threads that this occasionally happens at MCO for an international arrival. They don't have a good way to physically segregate the deplaning international passengers from the sterile area. So there are two choices: 1) force all international arrivals to go through a TSA screening in order to walk through the sterile area to get to the airport exit or 2) segregate the international arrivals, herd them onto a specific train/trains, and everyone who happens to be on that train is forced (using temporary barriers) to exit the sterile area.

Some US airports do #1, and there are threads about the topic. I'm guessing since MCO is almost exclusively a destination airport (not a hub) they get the least angry customers when they do #2. The last thing they want to do in MCO is force all the kids through another screening before they can see Mickey...

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I get it. What do the different colors on your drawing represent?

The blue arrows are how departing passengers walk, but what are the purple lines? Are those walls? Also, what are the red lines... are those walls, or just showing how arriving passengers (those about the leave the airport) walk? If so, it seems like they cross paths with the departing passengers.
