Ban the Scan NYC
You guys know about this, right? If you go, be sure to find me and say hi. It's gonna be a good time!
Ban the Scan NYC |
I'll be there as I live down the block.
|
|
I'm sorry I won't be in NYC.
|
I'll be there! I'd love to hear some sign ideas:
"TSA: We get off, or you don't get on." "Thousands of Sexual Assaults" "John Pistole = Child Molester" or maybe just "My body is my own." That's what I've been saying all along. |
I'll see you folks there -- we should put together a mini FT contingent. :-D PM me if you're interested in drinks before or after (or heck, during!)

I'll be there, with FT, AA EXP and bmi tags on my backpack... |
I love that it's nonpartisan.
|
I'd love to join. Too bad my day job is the evening job, and I'll be stuck at work. I hope there are future rallies, on weekends.
|
I wasn't able to find any stories about it, but I am wondering how this event went?
|
This event was great! We heard from Michael Boldin of the Tenth Amendment Center that we're all responsible for telling the TSA, every day and in every way, to go to hell. That transcript is here: http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/...nkin-scanners/
We also heard from Michael Roberts, the pilot who objected to being sexually assaulted on his way to work, about his nauseating experiences with the TSA. We heard from Amie Stepanovich about EPIC's legal challenges to the TSA's sexually abusive tactics. I held a sign that said, "I'm not your porn star, TSA!" and another one that said, "I was sexually assaulted by the TSA." I talked with many people about their traumatic and emotional responses to having their sexual parts rubbed by TSA screeners. We will stop this. We will never stop fighting until we stop this. |

Any news stories you can post links to? How many showed up? |
More than showed up to support them, I'll tell you that much. ;)

Are you saying it was a bust, or just about? |

Not another bust joke from the TSA.
Nope, the only joke I made was about menbeing slow. I'm actually, honestly curious about how the rally went. As both a citizen of this country and as a TSA employee I am simply curious. Yet I can't find anything about it on the news. |

As to the protest, the MSM covers what they want to cover and the actual number of protesters at a given event does not necessarily have a positive correlation with the resulting press coverage. |

Agreed. I also am very curious to know if there was a good turnout or not, but can't seem to find that information anywhere. Can anyone who was there comment about the approximate size of the crowd?

Mrs. Fredd often reminds me that men are slow but I don't think she's joking either.

I do understand there is no direct correlation. But news stories usually have certain facts, such as number of people who attended. Or i would like if some of our FT members who attended would tell us, but so far they haven't. |

I don't want to read a news story because certain facts, outside of opinion if the press, but because of the facts, such as attendance that can be learned.

I'm no good at estimating crowd size, but I'd guess 200 people were there for the rally.

If correct, that's pretty small for a rally at Union Square.
