Wanted to bump this to say that on my last AS flight, the announcement was nuanced to (paraphrase): "This is for pilot and crew safety" - in other words, "Yeah, you've all been through security (while we have all the liquids we can carry), but we (the flight crew) are still paranoid about you." :mad:
