TSA Math
 

I was scolded by a TSA today when I declared my daughter's liquid amoxicillin. I explained to him that it was not in my baggie because it is larger than 3.4 ounces.

He raised his voice and said it needed to be in a baggie.

I explained to him that 150 ml, which is clearly marked on the bottle, was indeed larger than 3.4 ounces.

He told me that it "looked smaller than 3.4 ounces" and I had to place it in my freedom baggie and have it rescreened.

Since we all know that any liquid over 3.4 ounces (100 ml) will bring down a plane, shouldn't a TSA know the rules? :rolleyes:

It's medication and therefore exempt. TSA: EPIC FAIL

Youre expecting far too much. The metric system isnt taught until fifth grade.

That's a little over 5 oz - 143% of 3.5 oz. Most people can see and feel such differences without a scale, even if they can't do the math.

Math and TSA do not connect.. Just like TSA and COMMON SENSE :rolleyes:

or TSA and Security.

Maybe we need to travel with a conversion chart for cerebral lightweights like this nimrod who is supposed to be keeping us safe :rolleyes:

Do you think they would be able to understand the chart? ;)

So, does the TSO dolt seem to think that the x-ray might see the bottle differently if it's IN the baggie, rather than OUT of the baggie???

Have TSA Agents on "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" where their winning (if any) go towards a cancer related charity!

How about putting the clerks on "Are you smarter than a 1st grader" ;)

I was thinking along the lines of "the tipping chart" that we use at F/t dinners as that is about as simple as you can get and in situations like that of the OP, we need simple

TSA Math: 0 + 0 = 1000.

You really want to challenge them, don't you?

Ignore the size the next time, and leave it in the tray and point to it saying its medicine. They will totally ignore it from there on it (I usually leave the "free" stuff in the side pocket of my backpack which is visible and its 99% of the time left untouched)
