Not only that, what would they do in Virginia where it's legal to carry a concealed weapon with permit?

Schell was sitting in an aisle seat on a packed Red Line train as she headed home from work, reading a book that covered the purse containing her iPod. As the train pulled into the Fort Totten Station, a young man walked past. In an instant, he slipped his hand into her purse and snatched the $200 device. "With a flick of his wrist, he snapped the iPod free from the buds . . . and walked off" with it, said Schell, 26, of the District. "I got off the train and yelled, but there was no capturing him," she said. "It was a surreal moment." |

Well, I've known a few potheads, and I must respectfully disagree.
On a related note, I heard a story about ICE/state police putting up big LED signs on the highway, saying "Drug (or Immigration) checkpoint 3 miles). Well, the people who didn't want to talk to the police for whatever reason would invariably get off at the next exit, only to be met by the actual checkpoint. The "If you have nothing to hide..." doctrine? |

If anything, they're the only ones more paranoid than the folks on this board...

Yep, when I saw such a search here on the T in Boston two months ago, there was a guy wearing a "TSA Inspector" jacket in addition to the police and dog.
http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/new...ReleaseID=4776 "Based on programs now successfully used in New York and Boston, Metro Transit Police will randomly identify carry-on items for inspection at station entrances." Gee, no one's bombed the T or MTA the past five years, so the program must be a success!
either way they justify their presence based on any outcome. |
