Doober -- Thank you isn't enough. Mrs Flies & I just added to the quantity of flowers. We also made a donation to the Susan Komen foundation in her name. The flowers will get on the news (we hope), but the donations to the Komen Foundation will send real dollars to breast cancer research.

Pictures! We want pictures! Alaska is SO pretty at this time of year! :D |
Guys and gals, I suggest contributing to her re-election campaign.

Perhaps we will meet her some day :) |
Very  everyone. This is the kind of activism I like seeing associated with TS/Sers. ^

I'm very curious to hear what her reaction was. ^ |
This is so win-win-win. Rep. Cissna brings attention to the problems with TSA, those opposed to the discriminatory patdowns can do something that will be viewed very positively and a small local florist (and/or the Komen Foundation) gets a little boost. Kudos to whoever started this...I'm in.

I think loops thought of sending flowers?
|
Nope not me... is was neko who wondered out loud if it were possible to send flowers to the state house in the other thread. I just took the ball and ran with it (according to my dog this is the always the best course of action).
A little bird mentioned this to me earlier... A resolution in the house today! http://community.adn.com/adn/node/155874 Yay! let's hope this spreads across the land like a big thaw in Spring :) Alaska House: "No one should have to sacrifice their dignity in order to travel.” Posted by Alaska_Politics Posted: February 23, 2011 - 12:36 pm |

^ to doober (and his smart dog:)) for running with it. |
Rueters ran the story of the flowers!
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...43889520110224 Great idea and an awesome statement by FT members! |
Still got time!
Sweet!! The Rueters story has links to share with social media. I have "liked" this on my facebook page and hope others will do the same. I estimate 4-5 hours left to join in. (the flowers are being picked up at 9am Juneau time)
If Miss Scarlett runs out of flowers, there's also the Plant People and Martha's flowers in Juneau. I can't wait to see pictures! :) |

So smart - love the flowers AND donations. Will make both myself.
I'd encourage folks to urge these organizations to actively support the rights of breast cancer survivors (and everyone else) to get on with their personal and professional lives and travel without harassment, humiliation, and abuse. |
A big THANK YOU to neko and loops for getting the movement going. I, too, can hardly wait to see the pictures.
