String of security lapses at EWR

There was the dead dog that eluded screening; the knife that made it past the checkpoint in a carry-on; and the two passengers who strolled off despite problems with their full-body scans.

These incidents were among a string of five security lapses in 30 days at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to two officials with the Transportation Security Administration. Normally, according to one source, the airport averages about one security lapse every couple of months.
I won't hazard a guess as to how many dead dogs made it on to planes without being screened, but I'd put serious money on there being more than one knife and two passengers who got away from the TSA.

As for one lapse every couple of months, give me a break. How many lapses don't they even about?

Newsradio 880 interviewed a security expert today re this story who called it like it is: security is no better today than on 2/10/01.
