Police Arrest 'Suspicious' Man At Airport

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2011
UPDATED: 6:59 am EST January 19, 2011

An official from the Transportation Security Administration told Local 10 that if photography is stepping over the line into surveillance, TSA agents should alert police, which is what happened in Aboyade's case.

Hopefully they start arresting more of these people that are doing this just so they can be "COOL" and post stuff on you tube and claim LOL look how I owned the TSA I took video of them.
This is very suspicious behavior it serves no purpose whatsoever.
People who are planning attacks have been known to video or take pictures of targets.

[sarcasm]You're right. There's absolutely no reason at all that anyone might be interested in documenting the sheer stupidity and outright lies spewed by TSA employees at the checkpoints.[/sarcasm]

Passengers are told that if they don't like the scope-and-grope, they can choose not to fly.

I say that if the TSA employees are so embarrassed by their own behavior, they can choose not to work for the TSA.

That said, if someone's being so obviously hinky that they get stopped and asked questions about their behavior, and it turns out that they're an illegal, well, that just goes to show that DHS hasn't been doing very well in securing the borders... as well as showing us all that they've been effective in catching complete idiots who may or may not actually have nefarious plans.

Right, so everyone taking pictures and videos in the airport is suspicious. They've also been known to speak quietly on their cell phones, look nervous before flying, and sit apart from each other in first and economy classes. Arrest 'em all!!!

I am in favor of banning all photography in airports and then all this nonsense would stop.

Include the Nude-O-Scopes in that ban, and you might have something.

Well, it's just pictures, it's not as if the man was groping sensitive areas--surely that would be worthy of an arrest.

Couple of random thoughts:

The title is a bit misleading - a phototog is typically a person who is professional or avid amateur photographer. The perp does not seem to be either.

Obviously the perp did not pass the smell test. If it was a FTer they would be all over the cop explaining that there are no rules against photography, etc.

So in this case they bagged an illegal taking pictures of a parking garage.

Actually if you Google his name there is a Photographer in MIA with that name more than likely it is him with an uncomon name like that.
But more important is most of the people did not even read the original article linked.

"After further investigation, federal immigration authorities said Aboyade was in the country illegally and wanted for violating U.S. immigration law."

Being in the country illegally has no bearing on taking pictures.

The bigger story is that DHS has again failed to protect our borders!

from the article:

Because Miami International Airport is a public facility, anyone is allowed to take video and pictures inside.

An official from the Transportation Security Administration told Local 10 that if photography is stepping over the line into surveillance, TSA agents should alert police, which is what happened in Aboyade's case.

Another photography incident at MIA - short version is the TSA and police can't prohibit photography nor compel the photographer to identify himself.

http://www.pixiq.com/article/testing...on-photography

I'm a little confused on the ID thing though. IIRC Florida is a stop and identify state; can anybody clarify?

Florida is a stop and identify state - however verbal identification only, not photo ID. However, Florida is famous for brutal and nasty cops who will demand actual paper ID and beat the snot out of you if you refuse any of their orders or read them back the text of the law that requires verbal ID only.

Here is a link to the FL statute: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/.../0856.021.html
