Pending Legislation in NJ
 

Below is an email I sent to a NJ Senator (Doherty) today and a human response, also today (wow!).

If you're in NJ or NY (the Port Authority, which runs Newark Airport, is jointly run by NJ and NY), please support the following bills going through the NJ Senate. I think there's something similar in NY so obviously both should be supported. Even if you just fly to EWR it might be helpful to voice support.

Two of the bills make taking naked photos using AIT (or similar) machines or touching genitals or breasts sexual assaults and hold federal employees criminally liable. The 3rd specifically outlaws the use of AIT (or similar) machines. I think that's the one that also needs to pass in NY to have it apply to Newark Airport.

Thank you for contacting Senator Doherty with your support of his TSA legislation. Here is the New Jersey Legislature web page http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/. To get information on a bill go to the right side of the page where it says bill search and type in the bill and hit search. When the bill info comes up you can click on the bill number and it will tell you what committee the bill was referred to as well as give you a history of the bills movement and the result of any votes. If you click on one of the formats by the word Introduced you can read the text of the bill.

The legislation that Senator Doherty introduced as a result of the TSA search is S2509, S2510 and S2511. He also introduced two resolutions SCR135 and SR91.

All the bills have been referred to Committee and have not had any action at this time- You can contact the Chair of that particular Committee and request that the Chair post the bill for a hearing and a vote. You will find the Committee Chairs on the left side of the page under Committees.
