Ice packs and Xray
Post surgery with Dr orders. Crutches and all. Can I bring ice packs through with his orders in writing?
Also I have a pain maker device type device installed. Go through Xray or not? Prior to my surgery I saw them herding pace maker people through, but my book from surgery says otherwise. Any assistance in advance would pbe great. Thanks! (now bio) Umguy |
You SHOULDN'T have a problem with the ice pack. Maybe a swab done on it and it should be alright. As well, tell them you have a medical device and need a pat down instead.

He had no clue the harm he could be doing to people's hardware. |

Thanks tha was my thoughts. But I'm often TSA surprised. The other week prior to my sugary I just asked some of the workers about pacemakers. One guy's response was "all those things are fine. I send hundreds of people with pacemakers through a day."

There is no harm from WTMD to pacemakers. This information is brought to you by the maker of the WTMD and NOT TSA.

I've been going through security with a Pacemaker for 15 years, and it has Never been a problem. It has never set off the metal detector.
Most, if not all, pacemakers are now properly shielded so that the detectors do not effect them, and they do not show up by the detectors. They will show in x-rays, of course. When I first got my pacemaker I was very reluctant to go through so I asked for a pat down. I no longer do that as I fear that will end up to be much more than a little patdown with the "new" procedures. I just walk through & go on my merry way. |
