= Lie, obfuscate, "humorous" posts on the TSA Blog, etc.

PowerPoint makes us stupid

Yet if this report is current, it would explain the recent attention to female clothing and bodies. Either there's a credible threat, or someone wrote a white-paper and someone else ran with it.

The report completely ignores the established fact that the women suicide bombers simply bribed their way past airport security and customs screeners.

No wonder I got pulled out of the WTMD line for the scan and grope. I was female and:
  • "Alone"
  • "Carrying luggage, handbag, or backpack"
  • "No obvious emotions"
  • "Subject appears focused and vigilant"
  • "Walking with deliberation"
  • "Makes attempts to blend in with a crowd"
  • "Reluctant to have bags inspected at a security checkpoint."

I see they forgot to include "Comply with Laws and Uphold the Constitution of the United States" in their key important challenges. Oh wait,...

I thought the same!

Note to self: when at checkpoints appear to be less focused and vigilant. Be emotional (rub onions under eyes beforehand??). Walk un-deliberately (whatever that is). Stick out from crowd (wear Cher-styled clothing??).

I am thinking of doing the shuffle-walk described in Dune.

page 15 of 15 was particularly scary when it discussed "Aviation Activity"-

Operation of an aircraft in a manner that may reasonably be interpreted as suspicious, or posing a threat to people or property Such activity may or may not be a violation of Federal Aviation Regulations.
Emphasis added to illustrate how they are putting themselves above all other elements of governmental regulation. Their own publication says I can be operating my private plane in a manner consistent with the FAR but that TSA can determine is 'suspicious.' THAT is just scary...

Great finds and great discussion. Very revealing ...

was I the only one that found it mildly amusing that they had to get their 'graphic' pictures from ogrish dot com? (see page 7 of the female .pdf)

If they were truly a respected law enforcement or security entity, one would expect to see sharing between agencies of images related to crime scenes of suicide bombers...

It would be consistent with the recent attention to females, but it does not explain or prove anything - correlation does not imply causation.

I still think it's more likely that skeevy TSA workers get their jollies or fill their quotas by targeting more complacent females.

In the absence of published prescribed procedures, inferred causation is the best we have. Doesn't make the theory correct. Yet it's still a good guess to explain why women are getting so much attention. :)

Think of the target audience. I am not surprised.

How many times have you heard on this board "Trust me, I know more than you but I can't say anything."

They all probably watch Sledge Hammer and think "wow, now that's a heroic guy".

Are you kidding? You people just don't get it, do you?

Obviously, someone not acting suspiciously is suspicious in its own right, because it's likely someone trying to hide their suspiciousness.

In other words, if it is an American flag, it's almost certainly a bomb. In any case, it's always suspicious.

It would also be suspicious if you openly displayed cash because only an idiot does that.

If you have no cash at all that also is suspicious.

Ergo, all people are suspicious.
