In PIT this AM. Although about 8 of 10 travelers were male. It appeared that about 8 of 10 selectees for the NOS were female (based on very casual observation). Maybe coincidence, maybe not.
Here the serious problem. Attractive lady from Mexico (I talked with her afterward) was getting ready to go through the WTMD. There was a back up at the NOS, which for everyone else meant they went through the WTMD. In her case, the TSO barker (some distance back from the portals) made a subtle gesture, pointing with his finger, very sly-like near his waste. The TSO at the portal stopped the young lady and made her get in line for the NOS. I would have made a scene, but the young lady didn't understand (some difficulty with english and the subtitles of what happened) and just wanted to get to her flight. Maybe someone can get blogger Bob to post the video? Approximately 10:15 AM today on the far right lane. The young, attractive, hispanic lady was wearing black leggings. Should be very easy to spot. What happened should be very easy to see as well. Is there any way to get a whole day (or week's) worth of video for the news or public to review? I bet it would be easy to gather data and see if this is a few bad apples or a institutional problem. |
This is sooooooooooooooo wrong:mad:

If we can't get consistent answers to basic questions I doubt they would turn over week's worth of video.

They can certainly hide behind Release-of-such-video-would-allow-terrorist-to-study-and-probe-their-attacks line.
Sounds like a broken record for a broken system but that doesn't mean no one will parrot the line. |
Similar discriminatory assignment of women (esp. young & attractive) has been observed at ORD & elsewhere.
Also find the "Heads up, got a cutie for you" thread, which happened at DEN. |
Here is what these stories stir in my mind: Is TSA staffed with a NORMAL number of perverts? I mean, go someplace else, the perverts are there but get no opportunities. But being in TSA dangles temptation in front of them. Is that why there seems to be more? Or are perverts flocking to TSA and accepting the pay rates and other annoyances because "we got the scanners"?

In a very sarcastic tone, and still holding me by the elbow, the agent responded, 'Because you caught my eye, and they' -- pointing to the other passengers -- 'didn't.'" "This could, and I'm sure does, happen to other women," she said. "It isn't right to hide behind the veil of security and safety in order to take advantage of women, or even men for that matter, so that you can see them naked. It's a misuse of power and authority, and as much a personal violation as a Peeping Tom. The difference is that Peeping Toms can have charges pressed against them."

Lol really? Not to be mean, but was this a serious question? Not that I consider these images nude, but just to ease your mind, TSOs rotate through different positions. You don't even get close to spending an entire day on any one position.
Besides that.... It's same gender... |

I've already brought this up in the "malice or ignorance" thread. Maybe they know they're doing this, maybe they don't. I'm on-board with the statistical analysis of all pax for a period of time, including all variables (age, weight, sex, race, of both the pax and the screener). Even if we identified that 100% of the pax being pulled aside for random pat-downs were "attractive" women not in skirts, TSA will still say that their processes are SSI. Yet what his does is let the traveling public know what they're up against, and if you're attractive, expect to get a pat-down. |
I suspect that it is the belief that single women present the path of least resistance. I have heard this theory from many women, young and old, with varying physical characteristics.
Then add the skirt issue, the dress issue, and the scanner issue, and the ratio of women to men is I suspect much higher. |

Is this still true re same gender?
In addition, part II. The images are, according to TSA, non-sexual. Why do they continue to claim the viewer is same sex? Where is that fishy smell coming from? I call Bravo Sierra. |

The young, male TSA officer walks slowly down the line of airline passengers waiting to clear security. He looks down at tickets, up at faces, then points to those whom he selects for additional screening. In a theoretically possible, albeit unlikely, random sample, when the officer reaches the end of the long queue, we find that every passenger he has chosen for further scrutiny is female. I'm sure when Blogger Blob gets around to answering this one once he's done defending the TSA against all the satire stories he's responding to, he will say it's because of what they were wearing.
