TSA frisks groom children to cooperate with sex predators, abuse expert says

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2010/12/a...-abuse-expert/

Excerpt:

"An expert in the fight against child sexual abuse is raising the alarm about a technique the TSA is reportedly using to get children to co-operate with airport pat-downs: calling it a "game".

Telling a child that they are engaging in a game is "one of the most common ways" that sexual predators use to convince children to engage in inappropriate contact, Wooden told Raw Story.

Children "don't have the sophistication" to distinguish between a pat-down carried out by an airport security officer and an assault by a sexual predator, he said.

The TSA policy could "desensitize children to inappropriate touch and ultimately make it easier for sexual offenders to prey on our children," Wooden added."

"You try to make it as best you can for that child to come through. If you can come up with some kind of a game to play with a child, it makes it a lot easier," said Marchand, promising to make it part of TSA training.
Does no one at the TSA have any intelligence at all? This idea of making a pat down a "game" is criminal.

I agree 100% with this. What would be so wrong with just letting the children go through a metal detector, and if the detector goes off, letting the parent take more stuff off the child or inspect the child, that's what we ALL used to do. I don't get the "metal detector goes off one time you're getting groped" thing. It's always something silly like accidentally leaving an earring on.

Here ya go (same issue, different age, though Chollie hit on the younger kids issue.))

Unfortunately it kind of goes for all ages - the government grooming citizens to do whatever the government says and undergo whatever invasion of their privacy and constitutional rights the government desires.

This could be a good opportunity for all to contact their state legislators and state child protection services, asking them to take a stand against "playing games" with groping of children.

From that article: "On Tuesday, TSA administrator John Pistole said the agency may change its screening rules for victims of sex abuse. He also said the TSA had no plans to continue expanding the airport screening process."

Oh REALLY? And how, exactly, does Mr. Pistole intend for the TSA to determine who are victims of sex abuse? What...are we gonna fill out a sex-abuse form? Are the smurfs now going to ASK, so we have to announce it to the world? Oh yeah, I can hear it now, blasting out over the PA at the smurf station: "Please put your shoes in the bin, and remove your laptops from their cases. If you are a sexual assault victim, please pick up a red tag from the basket and place it around your neck. Victims of gang rapes, please place the number of tags around your neck corresponding to the number of rapes."

And does he have the slightest awareness that many studies show that 1 in 6 women will be a victim of sexual abuse at some point in her life? And that there are some foreign countries in which 1 in 3 women have been raped?

And what constitutes a victim of sexual abuse? Must there have been vaginal or anal penetration, or would inappropriate touching by a perverted uncle when you were 6 count? Does rape while in prison count? How about male victims, and children? Do you think they will want to make it public knowledge at the TSA checkpoint?

I keep thinking it can't get any worse...and then it does.

I'm waiting for Chertoff to start touting an automated check point waterboarding machine for primary screening.

Suddenly TSA will get confessions from thousands of terrorists, daily.

Right. And are they going to demand we PROVE we're victims of sexual assault with a police report, arrest record, what have you? Is it going to be someone barking out "OPT OUT, OPT OUT, FEMALE ASSIST, SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIM"?

This is just ridiculous. So, now we have the following folks exempt from a full-pat down:

Pilots/flight crew
FA's
TSA employees
Airport employees
Airline employees
Children under 12
Sexual assault victims

At what point do they just admit that the security theater has failed and back down?

never....

Maybe they will get to be school crossing officers, if TSA does completely lose it's credibility.

Osama bin Laden's right hand man from Egypt is also a victim of sexual abuse he received at the hands of one of the US Government's favorites. Are such terrorists going to be exempted by the TSA from that which law-abiding Americans are not exempted by the TSA?

I have it on good authority that all terrorists are sexual abuse survivors.

Needless to say, I look forward to the day when Pistole and Napolitano resign in shame. Their combined efforts transcend incompetence.
