Reporter looking for scanner experiences
I'm a reporter in NY doing a piece for The Washington Post about some of the deeper cultural issues surrounding the full body scanners, and I'm talking to people who've been through them (or who opted not to go through them) about what the experience was like, why they opted for or against it, etc. If this is of interest to you and you're willing to be quoted by your full name, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Folks, we haven't been able to check the bona fides of this new member to insure s/he is actually a reporter for the Washington Post.
So, as always, make sure you are aware of who you are sharing personal information with. Thanks. ____________________________ Cholula TS/S Co-Moderator |

Can't imagine a legit reporter using a gmail account.

If we find that this is legit, I'd love to talk to somebody. Seems that many news agencies are only getting info from TSA and the kettles.. |

They could, after all, be working for the competition in the next story. |

Freelancers rarely use - or even get - corporate publication email accounts.

I would expect a serious professional to have their own domain.
She's legit - but if you only want to talk to reporters with their own domains, don't answer. |
Hmmm. Reporter/editor for the "Style" section? Any bets on which direction this piece will head?

Give the kid a break. She's got to be better than Ashley Halsey III, who is just a shill for TSA.

A lot of reporters, even those on salary with serious news orgs, use innocuous web-based email accounts with Gmail, Hotmail, etc. as public-contact accounts. Their "real" / primary email addresses are pretty closely guarded; you can't imagine what sorts of lunatics try to get at these people. Worse than us, even.
Her preferred domain (if I can guess it) has been registered since '95 to someone else. I'm not a big fan of "branded domains" (eg: @paidbytheword.com). A lot of people I know (including geeks), snag email addresses from mainstream email providers (think I knew the guy who had a [email protected]), when they become available. Some of us were just lucky to see this coming, and snagged domains early (my oldest domain was registered in '98). She has creds. Just might not be the creds some of us would prefer. :) |
