millimeter or x-ray ?
 

How can I determine if the WBI machine used at my airport
(RDU) are the millimeter-wavelength kind or the backscatter
X-ray ? I have health concerns about the latter.
(I have other concerns too, but I don't wish to get into them in
THIS thread, and they are thoroughly discussed elsewhere in this
forum).

P.S. I wonder if it would be considered a threat if you calmly
informed a TSO planning to pat-down you, or a loved one (and
you're witnessing), that you are a 4th-degree black-belt in
TaeKwonDo ?

If it looks like a big plexiglass booth, it's MMW.
If they want to to stand in between two parallel walls, it's backscatter.

The round, aquarium looking one is the MMW machine.

RDU is MMW. I pass through there fairly often, and was even there today, so I can confirm that.. Here is a picture of the device.

Is the photo on the side of the machine that the TSO is looking at real or for pax to see as a sample when they approach the machine cuz haven't we been spun told that the image of the pax is viewed in private?

Looking at the image on the display, as well as the "security agent" standing next to the machine, I believe that we might be looking at some where in Europe, that is using ATR with their BKSXs..

Good point as I simply saw a "blue shirt" ;) but I am gonna look twice when is see* one of these in my U.S. travels
