They even ran an article today about how the folks in the White House are frustrated that they can't control the debate.

Yet when Bush was in office....

The debates about TSA and controlling the message have been center stage inside NSC, and yes, Administration officials are very frustrated. That said, some members of the NSC staff are unimpressed with DHS and TSA whining, and are very sympathetic to the rising outcry against the storm-trooper TSA tactics.

What does "NSC" stand for in this context?

National Security Council, I believe.

National Security Council, i.e. professionals in contrast to the political hacks who have haunted TSA and DHS since 9/11/2001.

Major ones yes, local ones no.

If there's no real need, you need to tell that to DHS/TSA. DHS/TSA attacked fellow Americans again and again and again, and it continues.

I can't help wondering if factual errors in news reports are deliberate propaganda or merely a sign of declining standards in journalism.

Check out this NBC video

At one point the guy talks about he underwear bomber who "nearly brought down a plane". But that isn't a fact at all. The guy burnt himself. And while he was writhing around in pain, the passengers subdued him. There was no "near miss" there at all. So: Deliberate lie or sloppy work? You decide.
