Closed NoS?

I had already mentally prepared for my once weekly non Mrs. Red Eyes feel up today in Columbus only to be pleasantly surprised when the NoS was roped off at the checkpoint. Anyone else have a similar experience today in other airports, or was this an isolated incident?

Isolated incident. Saw it in action in a couple of airports today.

Could be a maintenance issue.

I have also seen some airports where it is roped off first thing in the morning.

Perhaps they were under-staffed. I have seen times in DEN where they will have ladders around the NoS when it's gone mech.. If only it happened more often..

There were 3 lines open at the DCA Delta pier Thursday AM. One had no NoS, one had a roped off NoS, and one had an active NoS. I was delighted to be able to positional opt out.

I've seen it happen at ORD, HNL, and SFO where it's working one minute and then they put orange cones in front of it the next and rope it off. Maybe the clerk in the booth is on a potty break?
