TSO Opening and touching medication??
I usually travel with a liquid prescription medication that is well over 3 oz, so it's not in my little ziplock. Sometimes it gets noticed, sometimes it doesn't. If it does get noticed, the TSOs usually take it for secondary testing with the swab machine and then life goes on after it is cleared.
Recently, however, one TSO opened my medication and touched it with what appeared to be a little test strip. By the time I realized what he was doing it was too late to protest. Has anyone else had this experience, and is this allowed? I cannot image that this would be allowed, but maybe I shouldn't be surprised. |
No way would I stand for that. I would be filing a claim for the full purchase price of that medication since you have no idea what it has now been contaminated with.

OP, next time that you have meds they grab, don't let the screening clerk open your medication. Call a supervisor if necessary. |
Can't wait for someone to try this with my epi-pen as in order to test the liquid, one has to discharge the pen, making it completely useless.

Even it is now after the fact, I would still lanuch a formal complaint to the agency. These people just wouldn't learn if all of us keep quiet.

You can get the name, mailing address, and phone number of the airport manager and owner at: https://airports-gis.faa.gov/airportsgis/airportLookup/ You can send mail "attn: Federal Security Director" at that address. Or call. You can also file a complaint at the TSA website. I would check with your doctor about whether you should get a replacement prescription (and definitely file a claim with TSA for the cost). I would also suggest that you contact your congressional representatives and complain. www.house.gov and www.senate.gov will give you contact info for your representative. |

Wonder if a complaint to the FDA that TSA is interfering/handling/testing peoples medicines would go anywhere.
