4 security lines, 3 with nude-a-scopes, one without

and the one WITHOUT is the shortest line. Amazing. I was at Denver the other day, and on the UA side of the airport security, they were directing everyone to the longer 3 lines (I think it was three) that had the nude-a-scopes, while one line in the middle had none at all. Actually, I think of the two lines on my left, only one line was going exclusively to the N-A-S, the other line basically bumped into it on their way down the belt after the metal detector.

So, I bang a small right from the 1st-class ID check and get in the shorter line with no N-A-S. Several sheeple who had been in front of me in line for ID check look at me like I was violating some unspoken law that "thy must remain in yonder queue of which the smurfs command" or something.

So, my question is - why did there seem to be a lemming-esqe need for the patrons of DEN to 1) go to the longer lines instead of the shorter one where 2) they had the 30-second nude-a-scope constitutional violation willingly perpetrated on them?

Before I saw the line in the middle, I was prepped for my very first encounter with a N-A-S and had my "I option out" ready to roll, as well as a very nice fart ready for release at the patdown. Alas, as I encountered zero issues in the "Olde Style" line, social conventions compelled me to hold it until I reached the west Red Carpet Club, where I used it on the as-usual anal stupidity of the Denver UA operations crew who insist on checking photo IDs and RCC cards as well as a boarding pass when every other UA station with an RCC accepts just your TSA-signed BP and happily lets you by.

You answered your first questions yourself: "thy must remain in yonder queue of which the smurfs command"

The answer to the second question is that 80% didn't have a clue as to that which they were submitting themselves.

Did you notice any signs up at the checkpoint? So many of the infrequent fliers have no clue what these machines do, what the risks are, or that they can opt-out. This is one of the reasons we created the brochures & websites, and are looking at a peaceful protest..

I have named this a SDPOO, a self-directed positional opt out, pronounced cid-poo. I use it whenever I can. I get lots of looks but no retaliation. Not yet anyway.

I guess LMAO is the only appropriate reply! :D

(Mods, perhaps catocony's most excellent, if odoriferous, report can be merged with the master opt-out experiences thread?)
